Priority One - Kersey Crescent - Environmental Issues

To start work on this priority the NAG organised a litter pick and stall which we had promoted with leaflets through the doors of residents and posters outside the flats.

We were delighted with the number of local residents that turned out to help with the litter pick.  Luckily, Peter Warden was already in the area when the residents appeared at the earlier time of 3.00 pm to start the litter pick and was able to assist them with equipment.

Though it started to rain we were were very pleased to get the opportunity to talk to residents of the flats about problems they have been encountering and will be following these up in the coming weeks.

We were hoping to get a photo of the results of our labours at the end of the litter pick and possibly another photo of the stall that we had worked to prepare.  Unfortunately, the onset of some some fairly heavy rain put paid to our plans and we had to call the event to a close with Peter and the Wardens assisting again by loading the litter onto their van to take it away.

We would like to thank all of the NAG members and the residents that showed up to help and the Wardens for being prepared even with dog poop removal equipment!  The highlight of this event was the opportunity to meet the residents and despite the rain cutting our visit short, we have had some very positive feedback from all who attended.  We look forward to hearing from any residents that attended or any residents, that may not have been able to come along but would like to learn more about the NAG.  Our next NAG meeting is at Robert Sandilands School on Thursday, 17th November 2011 at 6.30 pm and everyone is welcome.  Any queries, please e-mail us on ssdnag@gmail.com

Second Litter Pick Event – Thursday, 29th September 2011

After a successful first event the NAG received requests from the Kersey residents to organise another litter pick.  Unlike the first event, the sun was shining and it was quite difficult to muster the energy to  get on with the task in hand.  Fortunately, we were joined by some enthusiastic Kersey residents and the first prize must go to Carol and her lovely children who worked keenly from the off, only stopping to have a go on the big games having collected a substantial amount of litter.

Some environmental issues were raised and we will be raising these in turn with the relevant authorities.  We would like to thank the Councillors, NAG members, the Wardens and residents that turned out to support this event.

A good time was had by all apart from Peter Warden who was a little miffed at not being the first one to have a go on the Big Games!
