No Cold Calling Zones
- The first of its kind in West Berkshire!

Our very own Chairwoman Angela Money, (who also chairs the Newbury and Thatcham Neighbourhood Watch), has created the first No Cold Calling Zone in West Berkshire under a new scheme devised by Thames Valley Police, Trading Standards and the local Neighbourhood Watch.
The zone has been enforced since 21st October 2011 following a local campaign to stop cold callers from knocking on doors, in a bid to stop aggressive traders preying on vulnerable homeowners.
Its primary area of focus, which is clearly signed, is Glendale Avenue, Holborne Close and Cheviot Close and it is continuing to work very well in its mission to deter doorstep traders. Residents have also been given stickers to display giving further warning to such traders that they will be prosecuted if they cold call.

Update - Other No Cold Calling Zones in our area
April 2014 update Angela's continued hard work means that residents in Conifer Crest, Bell Holt, Normay Rise, Willowmead Close, Bledlow Close and Villiers Way can also enjoy the reassurance of being part of a No Cold Calling Zone. The signs were erected on Thursday 3rd April in conjunction with a press launch.
July 2014 Claire Robins (with help from fellow NAG members Chris Lander and John Leeson) has set up a No Cold Calling Zone for Enborne Row, Spring Gardens, Knoll Gardens and Andover Drove.
As at Summer 2016 The Number of No Cold Calling Zones to date is 68! The most recent zones can be found at Bourne Vale in Hungerford and Kingsland Grange in Newbury. Pond Close and Coombe Court hope to have zones implemented very soon.
We would like to encourage other residents to do the same in their area in an attempt to stop cold callers from carrying out doorstep selling and, in some cases, these can result in distraction burglaries. To set up a No Cold Calling Zone please contact Trading Standards on 01635 519930 and information will be sent to you.
