         Message in a Bottle

Launched by Newbury Lions Club a few years ago.

Message in a Bottle encourages people to keep their basic personal and medical details where they can easily be found in an emergency.

A special plastic container (as pictured) is used to hold the form which gives information such as a person's name, next of kin, Doctor's name and telephone number, any prescribed medication, allergies, even pet's names.

You are given 2 green and white crosses - one to put inside main access door and the other one to be displayed on the fridge door.  The plastic bottle containing the completed form is then stored inside the fridge.

Emergency Services know that if they see the sticker displayed that the bottle will be found in the fridge.

Message in a Bottle can be obtained from various locations including Newbury Police Station, Doctors' Surgeries, Pharmacies, Fair Close Day Centre, Newbury Hospital and the Volunteer Centre.

Help the Emergency Services find your property, especially in the dark, by displaying a house name or number clearly at the edge of your property.  Ensure that it is clear to read.

If you phone the Emergency Services, do look out for their arrival as a person waving is much easier to see than a house number.
